MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

Randy Huffine, our membership Chairman, reports that our 2009 final membership roster will be going to the printer in April. You will notice a lot of recently enrolled new members. This may be because membership in the PCSC is one of the best deals going.

With the spot value of gold around $900 per ounce troy, a single gram is worth just under $30 -- equivalent to our annual single membership fee. Many of the nuggets I have recovered (and continue to recover) on our Red Chispa Claim have weighed one gram or more.

Just in the last 4 years club members have recovered nuggets in the one to three ounce range. That’s not too shabby for a 20 acre claim!! Our Clark Claim yields smaller sized gold, but weight-wise I’ve had a number of multi-gram trips (and the gold from the Clark is veeeery shiny/pretty). One decent weekend per year on either of these Club claims can produce more than the annual dues.

What’s my point? NO!! The annual fees are NOT going up -- not on my watch. BUT the PCSC By-Laws as of January 2009 require that an initiation fee of $40 single and $50 family MUST be charged to any new or lapsed members in lieu of the regular annual membership dues (this fee DOES NOT apply to preexisting members in good standing). In other words, a new or lapsed member pays an extra $10 during their first year. Thereafter the dues drop back to $30 single and $40 family.

With the price of gold as high as it is and with PCSC’s attractive, high yield claims, this is the time to join. Our membership limit is 500. So if you have any friends or know anyone who wants to re-up their lapsed membership, be sure to have them act soon. We will also have to insist on evidence of valid, paid up current membership for anyone working the claims (in recent years the lack of an updated roster has made this difficult, but Randy Huffine’s energy has resulted in a complete overhaul of the roster, to be published in April).

Anyone interested in prospecting and metal detecting is welcome, and encouraged to join our Club.
Regular members are entitled to all the privileges of the Club, including but not limited to: access to all the Club's mining claims, Club newspaper, Club field-trips, meetings,find of the month contest(with prizes for several categories)drawings, dinners, and more!

Associate members are entitled to receive the Club newspaper, with many helpful articles and tips about prospecting with & without detectors, also metal detecting the beaches for jewelry and coins, finding gold nuggets on our Club claims with or without metal detectors, and more!

Membership in the Prospector's Club of Southern California is open to any person(s) of reputable character willing to abide by the Constitution and Bylaws of the Club.
Memberships in the Club is limited to 500 regular members. Application for membership is now open for the following types:

NEW OR LAPSED SINGLE: $40 Initiation Fee (no dues) first year only.

NEW OR LAPSED FAMILY: $50 Initiation Fee (no dues) first year only.

REGULAR SINGLE: $30 per year.

REGULAR FAMILY: $40 per year. Gives all Club rights and privileges to one or two adults, 18 years of age or older, with or without minor children, residing at the same address. Minor children are included in the family membership, but do not have the right to vote, hold office or make motions.

Associate: $15 per year. Only entitles the member to receive the Club publication "Treasure News".

All members must have a signed hold harmless agreement on file with the Membership Chairman before credentials are issued. The hold harmless agreement is contained in the PCSC application form.

Please note! Our dues are due on January 1st of each year with a two month grace period. If not paid until the month of March, a $5 late fee must be added. If not paid by March 31st, then club membership automatically lapses and an initiation fee is required to rejoin.
